Questions
Will my images lose quality?
JPG, WebP and AVIF are re-saved at the quality you pick; at 70–80 most people can't see a difference. PNGs are compressed losslessly, so every pixel stays exactly the same.
Can the file get bigger?
JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF files never do: if compressing would not make one smaller, you get the original back unchanged. HEIC photos have to become JPGs, which can be larger at high quality.
How does max file size work?
If the image is over your limit at the chosen quality, quality is lowered until it fits. The size in pixels never changes, so a very low limit can fail: resize the image first. PNGs stay lossless, so they can't be pushed to a limit, and the quality slider doesn't change them.
What happens to HEIC photos?
They come out as JPGs, because most apps can't open HEIC.
Does the result keep my photo's date and location?
No. Saved images keep the picture and its colour profile, without date, GPS location or camera details.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Everything runs inside your browser on your own device. Your files are never sent to a server, and you can check: open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network tab, and you will see no upload.
Is it free? Are there limits?
Free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. Because the work happens on your device, it costs us nothing to run, so there is nothing to ration. You can add up to 50 images at a time.
